IMPACT

Large scale ecosystem restoration with significant economic and social benefits.

The Economic Infrastructure

The project is fully funded by foreign direct investment and provides significant benefits to the landowners, local communities, Peruvian government and the environment.

  • Monetary benefits for landowners: landowners are paid fixed and escalated guaranteed lease payments, plus a share of carbon revenue from the project.
  • Farm infrastructure improvements for landowners: The project invests heavily in each enrolled farm, supplying and installing boundary fencing, rotation grazing fencing, and water infrastructure for cattle, as well as providing all on site oversight and execution.
  • Land titling: We work closely with various levels of government in Peru to assist untitled landowners to achieve formal land titling as part of the co-benefits from the projects.
  • Local communities: the project provides hundreds of well paid jobs to members of the local communities.
  • Carbon impact: For Phase 1 (10,500ha) alone the project will sequester ~6 million tCO₂e over 40 years which increases to circa 60 million when the project reaches full scale at 100,000ha.
  • Biodiversity: The project is a native species only ecosystem restoration project, where the end point of the reforestation activities is to recreate the naturally occurring forest with all of the plant and animal biodiversity endemic in the region.
  • Peruvian taxes: Imperative Peru S.A a very substantial amount of Peruvian taxes to the government over the life of the project.
